Honda HR-V Dashboard Light Guide

Dashboard Light

If you drive a Honda HR-V throughout your daily Abington, Willow Grove, or Glenside commutes, Marty Sussman Honda has put the following Honda HR-V dashboard light guide together with you in mind. In it, we’ll be covering a few of the more important dashboard lights, so you to know what to do in the event they pop up while you’re on the road.

We welcome you to send us an email, give us a phone call, or pay us a visit in person if you have any questions while you’re reading through the information below. A member of our team will be more than happy to explain anything you don’t understand in greater detail.

Brake System Indicator

This dashboard light consists of the word “BRAKE” in red. You will notice that it comes on for a moment when you first turn on your HR-V.

If it remains on or lights up randomly during your drive, it could be telling you that you’re running low on brake fluid or that there’s a problem with the brake system.

In either case, you should have the issue addressed by a certified automotive technician.

Low Oil Indicator

Low Oil Pressure Indicator

The Low Oil Pressure Indicator comes on when the ignition is switched on and should go away when the engine starts. It’s there to tell you that the oil pressure is low.

The symbol used for this light resembles an oil can with a drop of oil emerging from the spout. Have it checked out right away if it pops on while you’re driving.

Malfunction Indicator Lamp

Here’s another one that appears when you initially turn the engine on. You’ll be able to recognize it as an illustration of an engine block.

It will become illuminated when there’s an issue with the emissions control system. It will also blink when there’s a misfire in one of the engine’s cylinders.

Battery Light

Charging System Indicator

The Charging System Indicator also shows up while you’re turning on the car. It looks like your standard car battery and turns on to let you know that your battery is not charging properly.

If this light comes on while you’re driving, turn off the climate control system as well as the rear defogger as a way to decrease the vehicle’s consumption of electricity. This should allow you to make it to a garage or get to a safe place where you can call for help.

Electric Power Steering System Indicator

Apart from when you start your Honda HR-V, the only time you’ll see this dashboard light that looks like a steering wheel alongside an exclamation point is when there’s a problem with the power steering system. Be sure to have it checked out immediately.

Keep an Eye on Your Honda HR-V Dashboard Lights

If you’re currently seeing one or more of the above lights while you’re making your way through Abington, Willow Grove, or Glenside, you can count on the team in the service department here at Marty Sussman Honda to get to the bottom of it for you.
